She couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t stop gushing about the services being provided to her, so as a person who offers many of the same services I set out to find exactly what it was they were doing \u00c2\u00a0and what kind of price tag was associated. I have to say, everything they are doing is great and the price tag is just right, but I was shocked to hear their \u00e2\u20ac\u0153SEO\u00e2\u20ac\u009d practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153And they will buy a bunch of domains for you and redirect each one to your website!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Excuse me? Mass purchasing domains is what they call \u00e2\u20ac\u0153SEO Services\u00e2\u20ac\u009d? Ok, I guess I can see where someone along the way decided this was logical. If I search for Jim\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Auto Body it only makes sense that jimsautobody.com would appear in one of the first results. However, this is not the case, experiment to follow.<\/p>\n<p>There are many reasons why this practice is not something that can be called an SEO service. Today we are going to focus on the main reason why this practice is bogus.<\/p>\n<p>Number one reason: Google reads the content on your website. Google\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s crawlers are regularly indexing content and taking in information from the following places:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>URL and linking structure<\/li>\n<li>Meta Tags<\/li>\n<li>Website Navigation<\/li>\n<li>Images<\/li>\n<li>And of course the actual content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A domain alone does not equal a webpage or website. Simply owning a domain without any information for Google to index means absolutely no presence in any search result whatsoever.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For example, I own the domain <a href=\"http:\/\/typeandstyleshop.com\">http:\/\/typeandstyleshop.com<\/a> and have not yet built a site to go with this domain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/typeandstyleshop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-118 alignnone\" alt=\"blue host\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tandemmarketingstrategies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/blue-host-300x292.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"292\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see in the image, when I directly insert my URL into my browser, a page created by my hosting service is what appears. If I search for \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Type and Style\u00e2\u20ac\u009d this is what I find.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/type-and-style-search.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-119\" alt=\"type and style search\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tandemmarketingstrategies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/type-and-style-search-222x300.png\" width=\"222\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">These search results are not promising. Now if I search for \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Type and Style Shop\u00e2\u20ac\u009d you will notice not a single URL in these 1<sup>st<\/sup> page results has the words, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153type\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153style\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, or \u00e2\u20ac\u0153shop\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (except for the ads of course).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/type-and-style-shop-search.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-120\" alt=\"type and style shop search\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tandemmarketingstrategies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/type-and-style-shop-search-186x300.png\" width=\"186\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Now for the ultimate test, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m going to search for the whole domain \u00e2\u20ac\u0153typeandstyleshop.com\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/typeandstylshopcom-search.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-121\" alt=\"typeandstylshopcom search\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tandemmarketingstrategies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/typeandstylshopcom-search-184x300.png\" width=\"184\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0Again, as you can see simply owning a domain does not equal results. Not only did my domain not show up, Google actually changed what I was searching for.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tandemmarketingstrategies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/changed-search.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-123 alignleft\" alt=\"changed search\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tandemmarketingstrategies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/changed-search-300x68.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"68\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What about the redirect? Well, even if you redirect one domain to another you own with a website attached to it, the domain with the website will be indexed, rendering the redirected domain useless. Plain and simple.<\/p>\n<p>This begs the question; what SEO services are you being offered?
