Writer’s block, a total pain and sometimes inevitable, but something even some of the best writers and marketers are sure to face. Occasionally, it feels as if everything has already been written about and your days of writing are numbered. Don’t give up yet; we’ve compiled 3 painless steps to help you discover new ideas perfect for your post.

Step 1: Learn from your customer

Whether your customers are praising, questioning, or complaining, it’s best you start embracing everything they have to say. We consider this step our laziest but smartest “go-to”. You don’t have to search far and wide for your answer, because your followers and customers are the answer! Read previous comments on past posts or answer questions that have gone un-answered on social media or in your inbox. The more often you answer your customers, the more valuable you will become to them. Not only are you benefiting your current clients, you’ll gain new customers searching for those answers as well. It’s a win-win.

Step 2: Tune in to mainstream media

Your blog is on a social media site (if it’s not it should be!), so it’s mandatory you remain updated with what’s going on in your industry. People of all ages are now staying connected on some sort of social media; whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, 84% of people in the United States are on the Internet. Check out what hash-tags are trending or what’s being discussed on Google search trends. If you’re blogging about national trends and discussions, you’ll engage current and new readers interested in these topics too.

Step 3: Examine your previous success

We know you once were unable to keep the content from coming, so don’t let this slump get in your way. Refresh your memory on your successful content and posts to see what you new ideas you can pull from previous posts. If you didn’t go in depth the first time, get creative and discover new questions you never answered before. Stay focused, provide new info, and don’t become repetitive, you’ll lose your readers interest as quick as your post hits the web.

These three steps are our effortless ‘go-to’ for writer’s block. If you’ve completed these three steps and still feel stuck, it’s time for you to spice up your content. Don’t be scared to change your writing style and try new things. Get creative and surprise your readers with a new “weekly feature” or Q&A from a credible interviewee. Whatever it may be, don’t be afraid to step out of the box, the blogging and writing world is always open to new possibilities.
