Create Attention Grabbing Headlines

By August 22, 2014June 5th, 2019No Comments

Engagement is down, Facebook isn’t showing your post as frequently, and organic search seems to be dwindling. Seems unfair, when silly articles such as, “why he really doesn’t want to meet your parents” are being shared 100 times over again and your informative post is sitting in the shadows. What these articles have that you might be lacking are attention grabbing headlines. Add some life to your titles by following these steps.

Headlines are Key

Consider your headline your money maker. The title is the first impression made on your readers. Spark intrigue in them and inspire the reader to stop scrolling and focus on your article. When sharing your article on social sites, stay away from using the same title. Create a to the point statement that will leave the reader wanting more. For example, we know you’ve all seen the attention grabbers that state something happened, followed by what comes next is amazing. We don’t suggest replicating those, but you get what we mean; make sure people can’t scroll by without clicking your content.

Keep it Short and Sweet

People are in a hurry and don’t have time to read long over worded titles. Ain’t nobody got time for that! Extra-long titles explain too much of the article, allowing readers to assume they get the gist and keep moving. Keeping your title short and sweet won’t give too much away and will compel your reader to want to know more.

Lend a Helping Hand

The goal is to create shareable content that has potential to go viral, remember articles that benefit the reader or make them feel good are much more likely to be shared. Furthermore, content provided by a trustworthy source that offers solutions, tips, lists, and appeals to a vast majority tend to go viral. So, make sure you’re sharing content to help others, don’t be about yourself all the time.

Lists. People Love Lists

Catch a reader’s eye with something as simple as a list. They’re easier and quicker than reading a big bulky paragraph and are often amongst the most popular posts. Lists of 10 seem to be the magic number – so be sure to hit this sweet spot when you’re creating packing lists, countdowns, top 10’s and tips.

Sharing is Caring

No one will click your headline if it’s not relatable, point blank. Share your experiences and catch those emotional eyes so they stop on your post. The more you open up in your article, the easier it will be to create a relatable headline.
